David Magee Retrospective Exhibit November 4 - 28

  • WWM Library 146 Thimble Island Road Branford, CT, 06405 United States (map)

David Magee, native of Brooklyn, NY, and Fire Island, moved to CT in the late 1960’s, and opened a successful commercial art and screen printing business. At the age of 50, in his dream studio in South Glastonbury, CT, he decided to concentrate on his true love, pursuing full time, his innate talent for art. After forty years, Dave and his wife Wendy, moved to Branford in 2019. Dave died in 2020, having been in treatment at Smilow Cancer Center for almost ten years. His beautiful art lives on in many homes on many walls throughout Connecticut, as well as across the country and other countries.

He approached WWML, Keyes Gallery in 2019. His show was delayed until 2022 due to Covid. In this retrospective, you will view a collection of art spanning six decades, with early pieces from the late 1960’s, to his first finished painting of Branford, a view of the Branford River.

Primarily a watercolorist, his work includes pure watercolor, mixed media, drawings of musicians created in live jazz music settings, as well as sculpture, and twig furniture. What he has left us beside the remaining originals, includes signed and numbered prints, unsigned prints, his spirit of curiosity and exploration, and his tremendous love of life through color and wonderment.

This exhibit includes pieces for sale, as well as pieces NFS or on loan.
