My love of photography took me by surprise. Perhaps I was trying to stop time, to capture time, to slow life down. I only knew that I was drawn to beauty and solitude. It fed me.
My first love was landscapes – wild, untouched places, the breathtaking beauty of the natural world. I was fascinated by the play of wind and light on surfaces, especially water, and trying to capture ephemeral moments when all the elements aligned in a particular way, never to be repeated. Some slant of light, intensity of color, complexity of texture, elegance of line or moment of stillness beckoned me to take a shot.
Reflections hold a particular interest for me. I love the way surface and substance interact in an image. I love the way it changes from moment to moment. My work explores the tension between surface and depth, motion and stillness, realism and abstraction. I enjoy capturing complex and layered images that both reveal and conceal the nature of what is being photographed.
And then I began to look deeply at people and animals , to be drawn to the details of their lives and being. I hope that my photographs give you the feeling of intimacy and authenticity that I am always seeking.
My work takes me all over the world, and I feel privileged to be able share my experiences in unusual and unique places. I hope you enjoy the show!
