Jury for Art Shows 2018 - 2019

The Friends of the WWML will be receiving artwork to be juried for art space for the coming year of exhibiting at WWML, September 2018 through July 2019.


Exhibit space at WWML is free but please review our Art Exhibiting Policies for more information!


It is required that artists join the Friends of the WWML ($25 membership) to be updated by mail of upcoming events and exhibits, including the jury schedule. You may sign up to become a member of the library by visiting the Friends webpage or by stopping by the library!


It is required that all artists bring a S.A.S.E. (self addressed stamped envelope).



All art exhibits are awarded via selection by jury. Exhibit space for the months of September 2018 through July 2019 will be awarded. Artists exhibit for one month.




Guidelines for artists providing submissions:

1) You MUST be a member of the Friends of the WWML ($25 membership) 

2) You MUST have stamped self addressed envelope

3) You MUST bring in 3 pieces representative of your work



Receiving Submissions: Friday, April 27, 2018 between 4-7 pm



Jurying Session: Saturday, April 28, 9am-12pm



Submissions MUST be Picked-Up: Sunday, April 29 between 1-4 pm

Who are the Friends?

The Friends of the Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library is a non-profit volunteer organization that actively promotes community participation in library programs and supports the library’s growth and development.

What do the Friends do?

Contributions from Friends have enabled us to provide programs that appeal to the wide variety of citizens in the community. Here is a sampling of Friends’ sponsored programs:

  • Monthly art shows, including the ever popular annual Stony Creek Art Show
  • Cultural programs such as travelogues and musical presentations
  • The Mark Schenker Lecture Series and Book Club
  • Children’s activities such as the Gingerbread House workshop
  • Free or discounted passes to Mystic Seaport, Shoreline Trolley Museum, Peabody Museum, New Britain Art Museum, Beardsley Zoo, and others

Members also receive postcards of upcoming events. 

Contributions to the Friends also enhance the quality of this fabulous library and its offerings. We also use funds to:

  • Support the professional development of our outstanding library staff
  • Purchase media materials that would otherwise not be funded
  • Share the cost of painting and refurbishing the art gallery walls

How do the Friends raise money for these worthy projects?

All of our funding comes from you and goes directly to the library. We rely on you for membership fees, donations, and purchasing items at our fundraisers.

Get a Library Card

Do you live in Stony Creek? Area residents may obtain a free library card with proof of residence. If you live in another part of Branford, you may also get your Blackstone Library card here at Willoughby Wallce Memorial Library. A parent or guardian must sign a child's (under age 18) application. Cards are valid for 3 years. 

Borrowing Policy

Most books, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs and magazines are loaned for a period of 21 days. New bestsellers may be loaned for 7 days. Most items may be renewed one time, either in person, online or by calling us at (203) 488-8702 if no other patrons are waiting.

Interlibrary Loan

Looking for something we don't own? We can borrow the material from another Connecticut library.  You may request items in person, by phone at (203) 488-8702, or through Connecticut's statewide library catalog:!
